The primary goal of this project was to establish a warm and welcoming home eighty meters above ground, on the 22nd floor of the building. In addition to this, achieving continuity—a unified visual and sensory intent—within an open, spacious, and interconnected layout was a challenge. Framing the panoramic view of the city with the majestic horizon and the volcanoes in the distance was the starting point.
A linear morphology, with a width of twenty meters and a length of fifty meters, guided us towards a layout with a central axis serving as the spine, which would organically distribute the spaces requested by the clients: a family of five. The length of the space allowed for a play of impactful terminations and imposing visual accents, mixing the sobriety of clear oak wood paneling and floors with two magnificent art pieces by Aldo Chaparro and Alejandro Pintado; the latter integrated as a continuation of the view of the valley and the volcanoes.
The paneling, lighting, and sliding doors allow the spaces to connect and adapt to the needs of each moment. This flexibility is evident in the use of the dining room and kitchen, or the lattice that hides the bar when not in use, with a stingray skin panel that moves thanks to a mechanism designed from bicycle chains. The dominant tones of a sober and elegant palette of silver travertine marble and natural oak stained in tobacco harmoniously contrast with the white walls. Lighting accents highlight key design elements such as quartz and smoky gray glass in the kitchen, achieving a continuous, spacious, warm, and luminous rhythm.
